Well, I have decided to take the giant leap and purchase my first DSLR camera. I have had many digital point and shoots in the past, and to be honest, just really haven't been happy with the quality of pictures they take.
After much research, I have narrowed my choices down to the Nikon D3000 and D5000.

I want a DSLR that will take quality pictures, not to hard to use, and won't break the bank. (I know that's probably a tall order)
I want to be able to take good pictures in low lighting situation. (something I have yet to find in a point and shoot)

From what I can see, the D5000 will take better quality pictures, comes with the active view finder and neat swivle screen, but obviously is going to cost me more than the D3000.
I am a little worried about the fact that it recently went through a major recall. Have the issue been resolved?

I like the price and the features of the D3000, but should I just spend the extra money and get the D5000. If I have the chance to get a D5000, but decide to get a D3000 to save money, would I regret it down the line?

Thanks for any advise (This is my first post here too )
