"D5000 file number sequence operating in time warp?"

Bonney Lake, US

I noticed today that the file number sequence on my D5000 is running backwards. I checked the setting and it was off. I set in the on position and it is still runnung backwards. It read 523, I took a shot with AE bracketing on and it now reads 521. What is going on?
BTW I really like the site. I registered yesterday for a trial run but I'm upgrading to silver immediately. Thanks

Are you sure it is not the number of pictures's remaining? That is in the lower right hand corner of the LCD screen and in the viewfinder.

Alright disregard my last post. Pictures remaining on the card. That didn't ocurr to me since I was under the apparently false assumption that not all pictures took up the same amount of space. Thanks.

It is approximately how many left. Every picture will be a little different size, so the number will be close.

This is a good place to get answers to questions.
