Still learning the new 600mm F/4. The camera too I think!

F/4.5, ISO 800, 1/2500 second. It would have been nice to shoot with a higher F/stop to add more background. But this one was a spur of the moment shot. Not a lot of time to change things settings on this one!

Nice Downy Woodpecker. I disagree with your premise about a higher f/setting. Why do you want to show more background? I probably would have blurred the feeder more myself.

I suggest you can get the best feedback by posting your wildlife photos in the wildlife forum instead of here.

Here's a photo of a Downy Woodpecker I took last year.

Thanks, I really had no idea what kind of bird it was, but thought some kind of woodpecker. It was a shot that just happened, not much thought went into it. It just happened as I was setting up someting else, but I think turned out ok.
