"PANORAMAS"

Alexandria, US

I just purchased a 10-24 Nikor "panorama" lens. I love doing cityscapes, etc. I'm just wondering what's the best way to thread these together. I also use my stock 18-55 for this also, but because I am new to this I want to learn as many tricks of the trade as possible. Any suggestions?

I use Photoshop and it does a lot of the work for me. But I am sure there is other software out there designed just for Pano's. I think I have a New Youk Skyline in my gallary. As far as lens, I think a longer lens works better. At least for me it did. You are stitching a bunch of shots together so you don't really need to have a wide angle. Plus I always get some sort of distortion with wide angle. As far as the lens goes, I am sure there are others who know more, that is just my experience.

David, what post-processing software are you currently using?

I currently use Photoshop Elements 9. I heard at one point this was one of the best. If there is something better at a reasonable cost please let me know.

I'm not sure what a reasonable cost is for you, but since you have Photoshop Elements, try using its Photomerge Panorama feature before making any new purchases and see how that works out for you, to stitch together multiple photos to form one panorama.

I've used MS Windows Live Photo Gallery - it has a Panorama stitch option that seems to do an alright job, especially considering the price - download it from Microsoft for free.

I've only used it on Windows 7 - not sure where else it works.
