"gulls in flight"
Wed 16-Mar-11 12:20 PM by sbnc

Surf City, US

Just a random shot of seagulls hovering over the strand at sunset beach North Carolina. Single hdr shot processed in photomatix. Just took it on a whim. Wasn't sure how it would work as an hdr photo.

Nice capture. Reminds me of some of the shots from Hitchcock's "The Birds".

Hi Steve,

Please excuse me for mucking around with your photo, but I couldn't resist.
I am sure some will disagree with my suggested crop, but I really like the result you got with a single image capture. (plus it looks like you already cropped some of the original frame)

Nice job rick. I was trying to keep a piece of beach in the photo, but this is an ideal crop of the gulls.

I like the image.

If you don't mind me asking, why would did you feel the need to process this as an HDR? I'd be curious to see the original image, or the original processed for all the usual stuff. Don't get me wrong, I like an HDR treatment for many scenarios (mostly scenes that involve actual HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE), I'm just unable to see what value was added to this image from the HDR treatment.

Hi cluadia. This was just to experiment more than anything else. I guess like any kid who gets a new toy, (photomatix) you tend to play with it til it breaks, or get bored with it.
