"D700 Top LCD illuminator?"

US

The pro cameras use an electroluminescent backlight in the top deck LCDs. The D200 (and D300?) use a light bulb I guess. What does the D700 use? For some reason the light bulb looks cheap to me. The 'indiglo' is easy on the eyes, too!

An undeniable paradox: To think that there is any such thing as an absolute rule is at worst naïve, and at best, shortsighted. There is no such thing as an always-true, all context- or situation-salient, absolute rule that always holds true…including this one!

No one has tried the illuminator?

Ok...my friend tried one a few days ago in New York. He says it's the same top-deck LCD backlight as on the D200. In other words, it's a bulb and not indiglo like on the D3.

Damn! Even $5 fake watches sold on Canal St. have that beautiful blue backlight. That would add a nice touch to the camera.

Why does it matter? The light is not going to make the camera or YOU take better pictures.

Shoot nature with respect and don't trample it or startle its inhabitants.
