"Right angle viewfinder?"

South Lake Tahoe, US

I noticed that the eyecup is different from the D300/D200. What is available for a right-angle viewer? D-5?

I use my D-6 right-angle viewfinder on my D300 often. It would be a shame to have to carry a different model for the D700.

What is used on the D3?

Also, it appears that all the buttons and dials, etc., are placed in the same location as the D300. Is that correct? I sold my D200 because they moved the buttons on the D300 and it was too confusing when shooting with both cameras. (I confuse easily)

I bought the DR-5 for my D200 foreseeing this, with an adapter, DK-something.

I will be very disappointed if D700 doesn't provide fixture for right angle viewfinder. Quite often, I shoot from very low angle to get certain vantage point. Its very tiring and cumbersome to bend down your body & head looking at the screenview.

Don't worry

The D700 has the standard high-end Nikon round eyepiece. As pointed out above, the existing DR-5 right-angle viewfinder attachment will fit the D700. It will also fit the D300, D200, etc using a DK-22 adaptor.

Thanks All, and Brian for posting the DK-22. Now I will have to sell the DR-6. Didn't know there was an adapter for the DR-5.

I've lost too many eyecups from the D200 and D300. They don't seem to stay on while trekking through the bush. Or maybe it's me.

I lost round eyecups when I used an F100 until I used loctite on the threads. Changing accessories on a threaded eyepiece is slower than with the dovetail finder (especially after you loctite your eyecup threads) - both have their drawbacks.
