"Image Specs"

Floral Park, US

The D700 image specs:
Image size (pixels) FX format (36 x 24):
4,256 x 2,832 , 3,184 x 2,120 , 2,128 x 1,416
DX format (24 x 16):
2,784 x 1,848 , 2,080 x 1,384 , 1,392 x 920

Does this indicate that the use of a DX lens will only result in a 5 MP image size? Therefore the use of DX lenses on the D700 will not optimize the use of the D700? However, will the use of a DX lens on the D700 be equivalent to its use on a D300?
Thanks.

Yes

You will have less resolution. The same as if you take a full frame image and crop it down to 5MP. You will still get the benefit of low noise at high ISO.

The field of view will be the same but the images will have lower resolution.

The D2H is 4.1 mega pixels and produces great images with big fat photo sites like the D700/3 sensor, so it isn't like it will be useless, especially considering how clean the files will be.

Through the judicious use of adjustment layers, no pixels were actually harmed in the processing of my shots..
