Was shopping for a backup D700 and BH rep said they are now discontinued replaced by the d800.

In my opinion, a true replacement for the D700 would be a D4 in the size and at the price of a D700.

It is listed under the Archived Digital SLR Cameras. The discontinued lines. There still could be some in the supply chain but no new ones are being manufactured.

Bring on the D400...so long as it's got the same look and feel as the D700, I'm in 100%.

Love the pro-setup on the D700...I can change stuff way too fast vs. menu for the others...

It's discontiuned yes, but the D800 is released and a lot of 'owners' are now selling the D700 at reasonable prices, I found some copy's between 800-1000 usd with less <15.000 shutter counts. Time to trade
