"MB-D10 Problem"

AU

Hi Guys
I have a well used D 700 that is used for Motorsport.
The grip and body would be 4 years old and is in use at tracks every week.
Last night at a meeting fps reverted to 5. When I pulled the battery cartridge out and slide it back in all seemed good. Next bracket started at 8 fps but after the initial bust returned to 5.
I have tried to clean all contacts with methylated spirits but the same thing happens.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Jeff

Jeff, waht is the condition of the batteries? Could it be that they are "tired" and need to be replaced?

Good point . They aren't,new but not sure why they would work ok when removed from the grip and refitted. I will get some new batteries and try, thanks for the input.

You should be able to check the status of the batteries through the menu.

After I charge the batteries and install them I do check the menu to make sure they are charged and connected .
They always come up as fully charged.
It does seem like a connection problem which comes and goes. I'm going to buy some new batteries and see if this solves the problem .
Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Jeff,

What type of batteries are you using?
I suspect NiMh AA batteries.
Have you checked the voltage of each cell?
Have you tried cleaning the contacts on each cell and the battery holder?
If you have a MAHA C-9000 battery charger you can check the condition of each cell.
If you are using an EN-EL4(a) what does the battery life meter on the camera read?
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

Hi Marty
I have cleaned all the contacts and to no avail.
I have ordered some new batteries, and to my surprise the exsisting ones were purchased in Aug 2010.
I am hoping that with new batteries all be be fine.
I am embarrassed that it maybe as simple as new batteries.
Thank you guys for your input and will let you know the result.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

There is no reason to be embarrassed.
It only takes one bad cell to cause issues.
Many of us use Sanyo Eneloop or MAHA Imidian Low Self Discharge NiMh batteries and MAHA Chargers to keep them in peak condition.
Check Thomas Distributing for a wide selection at reasonable prices.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

Hi Guys
Thank you again for your help.
I have fitted new batteries and it seems to have solved the problem.
What a dummy I am, that simple.
Thanks

Jeff
