What does this mean ???

Just bought mine a few weeks ago when it was still there...now gone...

How long do they continue support etc. once they leave the line up pages...

It has made its way to Nikon Corporation's discontinued list, though. That probably means that production has ceased a while ago, but it is still available as long as supplies last.

It is a very nice camera, but I had mine IR-converted about a year ago. I intend to keep it forever, it is so cool!

I'm concerned too. Does this mean they will eliminate all the technichal stuff and helful pages from their website. I guess Id better get busy downloading and printing.

I saw this too. But then I read that it was put on that list back in the winter. And the reason apparently is that the D700 isn't allowed to be sold in Japan now (?!) due to battery regulations or something.

I don't think the D700 is disappearing from the US market in the near future. Heck, the D90 is still available new! I'll bet the D700 will be sold in the US and some other places for another year or so.

An undeniable paradox: To think that there is any such thing as an absolute rule is at worst naïve, and at best, shortsighted. There is no such thing as an always-true, all context- or situation-salient, absolute rule that always holds true…including this one!
