Someone can guide me to understand how can I take a picture with blur background using the external flash in my Nikon D700 (like nice bokeh)

Might help us to have a little more info of WHAT it is exactly you want, what shooting scenario you are dealing with ( portraits, close up of flowers..?? ) . Bokeh is a result of a a wide enough aperture to render your subject in focus yet your background out of focus.The quality of the bokeh is affected by the lens itself ( many are known for their 'creamy' bokeh, some not so well respected) and how far your subject is from the background. As far as using the flash , as far as I understand it , it doesn't have an effect on the bokeh. But maybe I do not understand your question

If you are using flash, you need to be able to set a large aperture while making sure the flash doesn't overexpose your picture. It is much easier to get good bokeh when not using the on-camera flash. If you were using a speedlight or some other external flash, you could bounce the flash to reduce the amount of light hitting your subject.

What is the maximum aperture of the lens you are using?

You should be able to get some nice bokeh at 70mm and f2.8. 2.8 is fast enough so that you get some shallow depth of field, which is easier as you go up in focal length.

If you want a blurred background I suggest you not use the flash unless you just have to have some light on the subject.

In that case the subject will be illuminated and most likely the background will be black rather than blurred, depending on the distance to the subject and the distance to the background.

Camera to subject distance makes a great difference.
Set the lens at 2.8 and get as close to the subject as you can.
If the background is some distance behind the subject, you just nailed it.

The best lens to use for an exceptional blur to the background is the 135mm F2 AF-DC lens. With this lens you can easily set the lens to give the bokeh you desire, setting the F stop at 2.0.
