How similar are the focus settings on the D700 compared to the D7000? It took me a while to figure what I liked to use on the D7000 and I was hoping that they would be very similar to reduce my learning curve.

I believe they are about the same with two differences being the D700 has 51 point AF and the way you change settings is different. I believe the D700 has 1 or 2 more buttons to change settings. The 51 points would be used in Auto, 51 point dynamic mode, and 3D tracking.... so more or less the same just more points, and should be faster I would think...

I migrated to the D700 last fall and while at first it was a little confusing, soon I was aware how to make the changes to get the focal changes made. On the D700, you do more through the menu then you do with the LCD display and the main/sub rotation dials and alternative buttons. Once you get used to it, its a "piece of cake."
