"D700 prices in France"

Rambouillet, FR

Have any of you noticed any change in D700 prices since the announcement of the D800? In France the price seems to remain stable at 2090 Euros (VAT included) or 1,750 Euros without tax (if you export it you can recover the VAT). That's about 2,330 USD.

I just checked at Amazon. The price is down about $180, not $500.

Adorama now has it at the $500 reduced price, but no cameras. It is still on backorder.

Here in Canada price is lower than I remember seeing it - $2,442.93.
But since it is out of stock, yep all theoretical.

I personally don't believe the D700 is going to be offered all that much longer, despite Nikon's statements to the contrary. Maybe 6 months at most, just to use up the leftover parts or sensor inventory and then I can't see the D700 being a manufacturing priority for Nikon, especially given its reduced price and therefore reduced profitability for the company. After all the Sendai factory should be way oversubscribed keeping up with the higher priced and higher profit D800/E and D4. But you never know, it will be interesting to see how long D700 manufacture will last. I read recently where there are two people at Sendai whose job it is to manufacture F6

I'm kinda expecting a bounce back up in used prices once the D700 resupply effort dries up.

Best regards, SteveK
