Even though my new D800E is a game-changing camera (see D800/800E Digitutor thread) I expect to keep my D700 to use as a studio camera for those pieces of my wife's jewelry that are subject to moire and also to carry as a second body for wildlife and birds with a 500mm Sigma Bigmos mounted on it. For my purposes that's a lot more practical solution than buying a $7000 Nikon prime telephoto.

My D700 is most defiantly a keeper! I plan to add another D700 as a backup this year. I keep seeing prices fall and with the news new ones are going to drop $500 getting another D700 is a no brainer for me. Then when the D900 comes out I'll add a D800 thats just how I roll always a model behind. When the D300 came out I got a D200, then I got a D700 3 years into its cycle no need to change what has worked for me so far. Plus I love my D700!
