"d700 pop up flash not recognized on lcd screen"

Has anyone had this problem? I havent' used flash much but now I'm starting to. So I don't know if it was always like this or just started to happen.

When I release my pop up flash, sometimes it doesn't have a connection that it is popped up (I take a pic and no flash or I look at the lcd screen and no box appears). I have to push up (or to the side) lightly on the flash to get a connection that the flash is popped up and then it appears on the lcd screen or it actually flashes.

I have never dropped, abused, lent out,etc.... my D700.

I had this same problem and sent it back to Nikon for repair. If I remember correctly, they replaced wiring module and a couple other things.
