"The D700 comes out of "P" Mode"

I've had my D700 for not quite two weeks now and decided it was time to experiment and take it out of "P" mode. Yesterday I went looking for something to photograph, headed out of town on Hwy 87 towards Payson without a destination in mind. Just North of Payson is the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park. I had never been there so decided to investigate.

After reading a couple of chapters in Bryan Peterson's book "Understanding Exposure" I decided it was time to get out of "P" Mode and see what I could do.
