"Oh! Canada! Where is the D700?" Mon 28-Jul-08 07:23 PM by Ruyooka

Perhaps I should say,Oh! Toronto! where is the D700?
Henry's website still lists the D700 as "on order". At 3:10 p.m. EST Monday July 28, 2008, Henry's tells the cybervisitor: "Hot product, pre-order yours today! This item is on order from our supplier. Initial quantities expected to arrive in late July 2008. Pre-Order today! We will ship it to you as soon as it is available. Your credit card will not be charged until shipping."
Any D700 sightings in the Toronto area? I am in no hurry to buy one. I am still in the D3-vs-D700-vs-hold-on-to-your-still-working-fine-D200-and-wait-for-Photokina state of blissful patience Just curious.
I ordered my D700 for www.henrys.com the second day Henry's made pre-ordering available online. My camera arrived at the Pickering, Ontario Henry's store on Friday July 25 and I picked it up on Saturday morning July 26. There are all sorts of other pre-orders that landed at the same time as mine. My long-time sales rep (Peter - who used to be at the Oshawa store) also tells me that all sorts of orders are being picked up at the Church Street and the Steeles Ave West stores as well (those two stores being the ones he'd spoken with as of last Saturday). Far as I'm concerned Nikon is doing an excellent job of filling store orders.

No problem here in the great white north of Ontario. My local dealer called on 25 July that he had a few come in. I picked mine up the same day. He did say he did not get his full order so I am guessing that there are some short falls. I still think Nikon has done a good job of getting it out on time and it is really hard to predict exactly how much stock you need to have on hand to satisfy the initial demand. Have fun deciding.
