"The eagle has landed - received my D700, awesome"
Hi Everyone, I just received my D700 from US express mail. Awesome. My battery is charging up right now. I am planning to go over to the "Christ Church" a stone church, at Jamestown, VA (two miles from my house) this evening when the light is better, to try out my D700 and my 24mm PC-E tilt shift lens and my 17-35. Will report back. The camera feels great, handles fine, light weight, like it very much. I like the door also, the CF card door, I thought from others' comments that there was not catch or latch or spring- there is, you must push in on one place, and it "springs open" hard, I think it is made just fine for me, IMO. Thanks, Debra

I know you're very excited about the D700. I'm glad to hear you received yours.
If you wouldn't mind would you press the DOF button and tell me if the AE-L indicator lights up in the viewfinder when this button is programmed with the DOF function. This is happening to my D700. (I've posted regarding this). Thanks.

United States, US
You are one lucky girl. I was just looking through the post and there yours was. I wish the D700 had been out prior to our Moab trip where I could have made some comparison shots using my D200. I have one shot that Rob made at Double Arch with his D3 and I made the same shot with my D200 and his colors really pop compared to mine.

I have my first images out of my D700, awesome. (Jim, this body would have given us spendid wides in Moab, I will have it for the next workshop now !!). I am pleased, very pleased. My 24mm PC-E is officially functioning as a 24mm lens that it was meant to be, not a 36mm crop lens. I love it. I'll post a few in my Nikonians gallery in just a few moments. They will be jpgs of course, but I also used my 12-24-as you know, below 17mm you can forget it, it vignettes below 17 on a FF body. Otherwise, it can be used, as long as you change from DX to FF in the menu, you can use it from 24mm down to 17mm. I'm a happy camper. Image quality is superb. Colors great. I can't wait to try other picture controls and other wide lenses of mine. I'm a happy puppy. Kudos to Berger and the USPS for getting my new D700 here overnight so I could enjoy it this weekend(I work during the week and commute back and forth each day, 3 hours commute total, and have pretty much zero time to shoot weekdays).
Look forward to others' comments-I did change some of my defaults but am still working on getting them as I want, will post more and would like to hear more on that from others, Debra
