As you would expect that is the same size as TIFs from the D300. You need to be aware that the TIFs straight from the camera are only 8 bit.
That is why people use RAW, from which they can make 16 bit TIFs, which are twice as large.
TIF from the camera has the same advantage as JPG over RAW that they include Chromatic Aberration correction, but the disadvantage compared to JPG is the large size. And the TIFs lack the JPG degradation but you only get the cut down 8 bits.
Has the D700 added an option for 16 bit TIF from the camera?
