"Active duty military and Retirees ordering the D700 through Ritz"

Framingham, US

If you go through aafes.com (military online shopping site) and log in with your SSN and birthdate, it will direct you through to Ritz. Once there you can order without any further information, and get the 10% discount. I just placed an order for mine. This is for active duty and retired military.

Do you know if there is a similar website offering discounts for active or retired peacenicks?

Without the millions of active and retired (and dead) military men and women, you wouldn't have the right to be a peacenick.

I live in Costa Rica where the army was abolished in 1948.

The budget previously dedicated to the military was diverted to education, health, culture & infrastructure. It's the country with the highest standard of living in Central America.

Why was Costa Rica able to make that choice?

My post #1 was a joke with some undertones (guilty), post #3 was pure facts but I will admit that the whole thing is totally off-topic in the context of a D700 forum. Sorry!

Are military dependents eligible to get the discount?

I would think that it is only ID card holders eligible to shop at the PX/BX. If the dependent is enrolled in DEERS they should be eligible.
When accessing the site your SSN is checked to verify eligibility.

Thanks for the information. I'm an old retired Navy guy and could use that 10% discount. I just can't seem to pull the trigger just yet. I want to see and hear more from D700 owner/users before I take the plunge.

Ritz prices on their exchange accessed site are the same as those shown on the retail site. I called Ritz and they said that the 10% discount is applied at the time of purchase.
