"1st on the list at my local camera store"

Winfield, US

I was at my local camera store today and was put on their list. It turns out that I am the only person on the list now and they expect 2 to 5 D700s to come in around August 1st.

I also looked at and held the D3 and I absolutely loved it, so I might buy it instead. My wife is even telling me the D3 is better for me. They offered the D3 to me for $4699, which is the same as B&H Photo at this time.

Decisions, decisions......

My wife is whining because I am taking my Gitzo G1348 with us for our summer trip back to Spain.

Can we swap wives?

There is a show called "Wife Swap". Perhaps you two could introduce a new angle to the show...but it might be torturous for one husband and pleasant for the other.

One sings praise for and encourages hubby's hobby, and the other... :-/

On a lighter note, congratulations on your new purchase! I can't wait to hear how the camera works for you.

I haven't purchased it yet as I want to see the D700 before making a decision.

Not at the risk of a D3!

I'm waiting, too.

I'm not in a hurry. Until I had heard about the D700, I was contemplating the D300. If the D700 really does deliver higher ISO with lower noise, then I'm sold.
