"Camera stores in Paris and Brussels"
Fri 20-Feb-09 09:21 AM by Horus

Dear French Nikonians,

I know this message should be in french but I am not able to do that.

I would like to know what`s your favorite camera store in France. There are many requests asking what would be the best store nearby to test products and shop at a local store.

So where is a better place than asking in the French Cafè?

Thanks in advance...

Cheers,
Jürgen

Hi Jürgen

>So where is a better place than asking in the French Café?
Indeed!

Well France is quite a big country, so where do want to look at?
Paris? I do know a bit the city and I can provide you some hints on good places.

The first one would be the shops you can found at Boulevard Beaumarchais. Its in the 3rd arrondissement which extend from Place de la République to Place de la Bastille. This boulevard is well known to French and Paris photographers and is known to all as the "Photographer Boulevard".

Every time I go visiting my family in Paris, I go to the Boulevard for a "shopping" walk are they leave nearby.

Here a "Visite Guidée" in French, listing some shops found in this boulevard:
http://www.revoirfoto.com/pr/?pg=4&c=3&lg

The ones I like for Nikon gear are:
* Cirque Photo (big shop for new gear)
http://www.lecirque.fr

* Odéon Occasions Photo (quite nice for used).
http://www.odeon-occasions.com

They are other well-known shops in Paris, like:
* La Boutique Nikon, in the 17th arrondissement, selling only Nikon gear so ideal for Nikonians suffering of severe NAS
http://www.laboutiquenikon.com

* Photo Suffren from the name of the street in 7th arrondissement
http://www.photosuffren.com

* A nice shop would be also Europ Photo Cine Son in the 10th arrondissement
http://www.prichoc.com

And speaking about French, you have very nice shops in Belgium too especially in Brussels

PCH, Photo Cine House is my favourite reseller.
http://www.pch.be
One of the best shop in Brussels. It's where I buy all my new gear.
We are Pol and I talking about it:
http://www.nikonians.org/forums/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=222&topic_id=543&mesg_id=543&page=

Campion & Campion Second Hand Shop
http://www.annuaire-photo-video.be/campion.html
Where I buy all my used gear. I even prefer Campion for used gear than second hand shops listed above in Paris! Michel Campion as more than 40 years of experience in second hand. A real living encyclopaedia. Also Campion Second Hand Shop has the a repair facility for "old" gear.

And last there is Double You
http://www.doubleyoubxl.be

Hope this will be OK for a starter

Cheers,
Horus

You're most welcome Jürgen

By the way I was wiling to do such a post to open discussion on this particuliar subject since a time but in French, LoL
So thanks very much for your initiative.

One very important thing to add about Brussels shops, especially PCH I know from years now, is that Pol and I are now considered by the shop keepers, Nestor and Christoph, as the "Nikonians official guys".
So as a Nikonians member if you are willing to visit PCH in Brussels please do no forget to say that you are Nikonians and make reference to me and Pol.
Nestor and Christoph will be more than happy (us too! ) and will provide a more dedicated and fully customized service, and perhaps other things more difficult to obtain for usual customers...

I'm in the process of trying to do the same thing with Campion Second Hand Shop

Have a good time too.

Cheers,
David

Hey David,

Thanks for your feedback. I always love when Nikonians help each other and provide a better support (like a family)

I think this is a good example for other Nikonians who use their connections to reach every member on a very pratical basis. We should further develop this idea and have a map with shops that support Nikonians with either their service, rebates and more...

Thanks a lot and maybe CU at a European wide meeting (remember, we`ve meet already in Brussels in 2005).

My Best,
Jürgen

Hello Jürgen, happy to get news from you since we last met at the Photokina last year !
I confirm there is no better place to get infos about Nikon resellers than the "French Café" of course
David already answered your question and I could add one reseller in Liège/Belgium (Boulevard de la Sauvenière n° 1) where you will be welcome as Nikonians, it is called "Photo-Galerie". They even distribute my Nikonians Official Visit Card to their customers !!
Here is the link: http://www.photogalerie.com/boutique/liste_rayons.cfm

For the facility of our french-speaking members (France, Switzerland, Canada, Belgium, Africa,...) I think the following messages will have to be written in French, that's why I take the liberty to translate your message and my answer here below:

Chers Nikonians francophones,

Brussels, BE

http://www.revoirfoto.com/pr/?pg=4&c=3&lg

* Cirque Photo
http://www.lecirque.fr

* Odéon Occasions Photo
http://www.odeon-occasions.com

http://www.laboutiquenikon.com

* Photo Suffren dans le 7ième arrondissement
http://www.photosuffren.com

http://www.prichoc.com

http://www.nikonians.org/forums/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=222&topic_id=543&mesg_id=543&page=

Campion & Campion Second Hand Shop
http://www.annuaire-photo-video.be/campion.html

Enfin il y a Double You
http://www.doubleyoubxl.be

Horus

Brussels, BE

I would complete the list with :
* now PCH has now a complete shop online and can sell abroad within Europe.
The website is still the same: http://www.pch.be

* Photo Alpha in Brussels, a well new Leica reseller, is now part of Photo-Galerie (Liège) have updated their website and now provide full range of services.
As PCH it sell new and reuse hardware.
Nice touch, you can consult their reuse hardware with an up-to-date item list :
http://www.photogalerie.com/boutique/liste_rayons.cfm

* Last import news, Double You, like PCH and Campion, has just become an official Nikon Pro Dealer.
The web site is still the same: http://www.doubleyoushop.be/

Brussels, BE

http://www.photogalerie.com/boutique/liste_rayons.cfm

Cheers,
Horus

LIEGE, BE
