"Nieuw boek Frans Lanting"

Ik heb zojuist een gesigneerd exemplaar van de pre-release versie ontvangen. Maar hoewel het een indrukwekkend boek is, stelt het me toch ietwat teleur. In een poging het boek dik en zwaar te maken lijkt het alsof Frans dit keer minder kritisch is geweest, want er zitten veel foto's tussen die wat mij betreft onder zijn normale niveau zijn. Soms gewoon redelijk recht toe recht aan, maar soms zelfs niet eens echt scherp waar je dat wel zou verwachten.

Wat ik wel heel goed vind aan het boek, is het hele concept erachter: een reis door de tijd, van het ontstaan van de aarde tot nu. Er zit een duidelijke lijn in het werk en het wordt goed opgebouwd, maar tegelijkertijd is het zo divers dat het bijna iets willekeurigs krijgt.

Het was niet mijn bedoeling een aanzet tot een boekrecensie te schrijven, maar Frans is altijd een groot voorbeeld voor me geweest. Hij bewijst bovendien dat je het als natuurfotograaf uit een piepklein landje toch nog ver kunt schoppen, een geruststellende gedachte.

Heeft iemand anders dit boek al kunnen inzien?

Nou ben ik niet van foto boeken, maar het lijkt mij dat één of ander marketing bureau een berg foto´s op een hoop heeft gegooid er daar omheen een concept heeft bedacht om het te verkopen.

- foto´s beneden zijn kwaliteit
- oude foto´s
- diversiteit, eigelijk willekeur
- wel goed concept en goede project uitvoering


Zo maar een gedachte.
