"Correcting Red Eye in Photoshop"

I have recently started using Photoshop. I primarily scan images and save them to disks. I also do some printing. I recently ran into a red eye problem with some photos taken with my Nikon 990. I looked through four books on Photoshop and never found a single mention of "correcting red eye" in either the table of contents or the index of any one of the four books.

Can somebody describe how they remove red eye and then if possible add a catch light.

Thanks

You can reduce or remove the red eyes by either coloring over it with the right color, or by making a new layer with 50% opacity, and color over the eyes with a blue tone.

you'll have to explain to me what you mean with catch light, because I'm not sure what it is

Zoom in, and stipple with a fine brush using black, full opacity and a soft edge (not hard-line edge) to remove the red. Then switch the brush colour to white and dot slightly off-centre (very slightly) with a soft white stipple...

bingo, red-eye gone, catchlight there...

Thanks for the advice. It worked. I just joined the"Nikonians" and using it as a forum for help beat any of the help I got out of the 4 books I purchased or the Adobe help function.

Zoom in on the eyeballs, Use your lasso tool to select the red portions only, click on the image tab and select adjust. Click on variations. Experiment wiht hte selections until you get rid of the red. You can give people what ever eye color you wish.
