I shoot a lot of basketball--usually at ISO 3200 or higher. My workflow is to batch process the RAW images using DxO Optics using it's Prime noise reduction.

I decided to do a quick & dirty test comparing noise reduction by various methods. The first three images are all the same RAW file shot with a Nikon AW1 at ISO 3200 and Auto WB. No color correction or post processing other than noise reduction.

The first two images were converted by ACR with default noise reduction settings. The first JPEG had Noiseware noise reduction and the second Topaz. The third image was converted by DxO Optics 10 with Prime noise reduction. The final image was shot with a Fuji X20 with the JPEG right out of the camera.

I thought the results were both obvious and interesting--particularly obvious on the seat in the car (which is a 1952 MG TD).
