"Aperture 3 NEF conversion"

Has anyone done a comparison between NEF conversions achieved by Aperture 3 as compared to Capture NX2 and Lightroom 3 beta?

Yes. A3 is amazing. I actually am enjoying my photos again.

A3 is a game changer to LR. LR has to once again copy Aperture.

Hello

I have had a look at the raw conversions of both NX2 and A3 for the same referenced .NEF file.
I have noticed that the NX2 version is slightly richer in colour and also has noticeable better sharpness across the whole photo,
I am not sure if I have some settings in A3 that could be changed to improve its quality, I have looked in the preference section but have not come across anything.
I have been having a few issues with NX2 lately and its a shame that A3 cant quite match its conversion as I would consider giving NX2 the flick if it did.

Regards,

Jayto

Nikon definitely use a secret sauce, but much of the code can be cracked very easily in Aperture.

-- Try mild boosts of contrast, saturation, definition and vibrancy. I tend to use very little, but all of these help create the "nikon Look." I find that settings vary with lens and image conditions. Finally, don't forget to sharpen to taste.

-- The Nikon blue/green/yellow pastel is much harder to crack. Rob Boyer of RB Design has been rather manic on this and has published some excellent presets for various Nikon cameras at http://photo.rwboyer.com/. I have played with his D200 presets and am using them some.

N.B. Rob is much harder on himself and Apple than need be; he has achieved some very nice results and, since you can see what he did, you are well on your way to making your own secret sauce.

All the best!

It's supposed to be:

photo.rwboyer.com

But the link timed out for me. Probably just a temporary Internet glitch.

I couldn't get the link to come up - hence the mistypedddd URL.

Many tanx for the correction.
