"Question Re PS CS4, and pricing from various vendors...."

US

Hello, new to the list. I was shopping around for Photoshop CS4 (currently using PS 6.0), and noticed a vast difference in pricing. Some (B&H for example) in the $600 range, while I also found some in the $180 range <http://tinyurl.com/n5vcc8>.

Am I missing something here? How can there be such a wide variation in pricing?

Thanks, really enjoying nikonians.

You can check the resellers rating as see there is no rating for this store.

You can 'whois' the domain name Giantsoft.com and see this is a relatively new site and see where it is physically hosted.

You might ask yourself, are there:

  • retail scams on the Internet
  • identity thrives
  • copyright violators

Look for post about very low camera prices.

Here are the 3 legal levels of CS4.

1. Retail. $6xx B&H will probably be as low as anyone. My local computer guy will meet their price and says he makes $25.
2. Upgrade: about $180. You need to already have a legal version.
3. Student: Here Adobe offers a deep discount. It's the full program but is not upgradeable. Requires a valid Student ID.

The scams: It's one of the most pirated programs in the world. But you just don't run it with a fake serial number. Like Windows it "phones home."

Anything you see on an auction, flea market, or sketchy website will not run for long....if at all.

CS4 is free, for a 30 day trial period from Adobe. The value is not in the program...it's the license. Unlike other software, when your 30 days is up Adobe doesn't make you a special offer to license it. There are all kinds of shaky license deals, especially on the auctions.

As far a Giant Software goes: Yo HOHO. http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/verifiedsoft-c234967.html
