"Photoshop CS for $299.00"

Stratford, CA

Hi there,

I found this link and wanted to share it with you:

http://www.adobe.com/store/products/special.jhtml?id=catMicrotek&sourcecode=112300

If you have a legal copy of PS Elements, you can buy PS CS for only $299.00 from Adobe. Seems to be a decent deal. BTW, I know the site says to use your PS Elements Serial Number included with a "Microtek" scanner, however, I just used the PS Elements S/N I got with my S2 Pro and it worked fine.

Hi Gang,

It is my pleasure to share this. I am a firm believer of owning "legal" software (since I used to be a software developer) but don't believe in exorbitant prices. $299 seems like a very fair price...

Saw your info regarding photoshop CS at the reduced $ and I went and bought it. I had been considering the CS before but at that price, I could not resist. Thanks for the information, very helpful.

Chalk me up as well. I forgot that my scanner bundle included Elements. I have placed my order.

How long does it take to ship? Adobe says 24hrs and it has been 22 already and no email.

Also, I downloaded the trial version of CS to use for now but once I receive the full version, do I reinstall the entire app or will the serial number turn my trial version into the full retail version?

Just curious.

Thanks

Joe

Hi Joe,

The only email Adobe sent me was the one confirming the order. They never sent me one to tell me it was shipped. I got mine on the third business day after I had ordered it (I live in Canada). Very quick!

I called Adobe and they told me I had to uninstall the trial version first before loading the full version, so I did.

Thanks for the input. I received CS yesterday and I also received the email saying it has shipped yesterday as well. lol

Well, I just installed it right over the trial version....no ill affects noticed thus far, but I might uninstall and reinstall since you posted that was Adobe's recommendation.

Just give it a try. All you do is input your serial number and see if it validates. I'm pretty sure any Elements # will work as I haven't heard anyone being rejected yet. Good luck

Hi there,

When I "stumbled" upon this link, I used the serial number from PS Elements that came with my Fuji S2. It worked just fine. So now I am the owner of a legal owner of a full blown version of PS CS for half price.

My guess is as long as the copy of PS elements you have is legal, the link will work.

Hey, why pay full price?

Thanks for the pointer to this site. I, too, purchased CS there. I was reading today about CS and wondering if it was worth buying it so soon after purchasing version 7.0.

Well, at this price I could not refuse! It's on the way! Thanks!!!!

What am I missing here...why would you purchase Photoshop CS at $299 if all you need is the upgrade which is available from Adobe at $169 ??

I just ordered yesterday - thanks for the info. But, is it a full version or an upgrade? On installation does it want your PSE serial number or does it just install?

Thanks

From my experience on my Mac, I just installed it. The only time I needed the PSE S/N was when I ordered PS CS online. From what I can tell, it is the full version, not an upgrade.

A great deal in my books - only $299.00!!!!

Hi, Guys!

Boy, being a Nikonian is really worth it. I just ordered my new Photoshop CS at the Elements upgrade price. I had wanted to upgrade but was really reluctant to pay the $650 plus bucks. Watching the forums made a $350 savings possible.

Thanks for the valuable info.

Yes a link to 1/2 off a D100 would be great! Since I own mine now, I'll just have to settle for the discounted software. Thanks again!

I recieved an e-mail from "oem software ltd" offering oem versions of Photoshop CS, for $100.US, via the attatched link. http://www.softparadise.biz

Has anyone ever purchased from this company? I know the old saying "if it sounds too good to be true. . . it probably is", but with the ridiculous prices we have to pay here in the UK, offers like this are extremely tempting.

I didn't have a copy of PS Elements, but I found one of the major photo equipment retailers had the Microtek ScanMaker i320 on sale for US$139, so I ordered it, got the full-install version of CS, and now will put a notice up on the bulletin board offering the scanner at a cut rate.

That's a pretty good idea. You can probably recover most of the expense. Thanks to ballroom_boy for finding this offer!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the $299.00 offer from Adobe is in effect until September. Sales person was not exactly sure when special would be discontinued.

I called Adobe Sales at 1-888-724-4508 and gave them my PSE 2 serial number and had no problems with purchasing CS. After reading John Shaw's "Photoshop Field Guide" I decided buying CS at $299 was a no brainer.

Regards,

I have a copy of PS Elements that was bundled with my S2 Pro. I phoned Adobe to try and take advantage of the offer to upgrade to Photoshop CS but the sales rep said I need an offer number which I don't have.

I found the offer code in another forum.

Richard,

At first when I spoke to a tech representative they asked me for an offer code to upgrade. When I said I did not have one they switced me to the sales department. I mentioned to them that I understand that they had an upgrade available. The sales rep. confirmed it and I was upgraded without using any code.

If I supplied the serial No. and the cash, and ordered the upgrade through a relative living in the USA, would I be able to register it with Adobe here in the UK?

Alan,

Interesting question. My suggestion is to e-mail or call Adobe and ask the question. That is probably the only way you will know for certain.

I ordered my copy today. Interestingly, I am a registered owner of Elements 1.0 and the Customer Service rep found that record in his computer. After that, he didn't even ask for the SN of Elements 2.0 (which I did not install or register - came bundled with my scanner).

I told a friend about this offer and he managed to order through the web without any Elements serial number. He has received his full version of CS.

Anyone got an update on this?

The link given above to the Adobe store site for this is now strange. It says it expires in February, shows the discount, but the actual selling price you get is the full list.

I called Adobe and asked about it, and they said they know nothing about that page, that there is a special that expires Sept 5 but you have to have a "promotion code".

I have neither since I have LE not Elemenets, which is what I then asked about. I was told "it is the same promotion, same price". But you needed the promotion code not the serial number.

Then I asked about upgrading from LE (which I have) without a promotion code, and was told it was $499 -- which is better than the alternative of full price I guess.

I'm also curious about the educational discounts. I'm not a pro, this is for family use. Does that mean my son (a student) could buy this for us and pay about $235?

I received an upgrade just recently (last week) without a promotional code. I provided my PS Elements 2 serial # which was already registered with them. The telephone number I used was 800-833-6687. From there I was transfered to a sales person.

If that does not work you may want to try this number which provides assistance for upgrades 800-685-3658. I received this with my upgrade documentation. From there ask to speak to a sales person re: promotional upgrades.

Alternatively, a couple of messages back someone suggested a different number to call, you may also want to try this one.

If you absolutely need a promo code you can do a search under 'code' and will probably come up with one. There is one embedded in one of the threads discussing photoshop. I did this after I ordered my upgrade just to see if I could find it, which I did. I do not know if this code is still valid or appropriate to use without the associated product purchase.

Bottom line, I am very pleased I upgraded. The transition from elements 2 to CS, while still in progress, is not very diffilcult, just time consuming with respect to learning additional functionality. I am using two books to ease the learning transition. The first was John Shaw's PhotoShop Field Guide which reads very easily and can be quickly managed. The second book is Photoshop CS Artistry by Barry Haynes and others. This book is excellent but I have approached it from the perspective of an educational textbook. Hard to imagine that anything I need to know about Photoshop CS is not covered within this book. I actually look forward to reading it and sharpening my skills and the way I approach my captures for editing (I am basically a minimalist when it comes to editing).

Let me know how you do. Adobe should be consistent in their market facing activities.

I found it, but the code didn't work on the web site, said it did not apply to the product in question.

I called and spent the $499 to upgrade from LE. Decided it was too many hoops to jump through to find some way to get a bit more off. Which of course is what they hope for.

So mine is on the way.

I have to say the Nikonians community is the best on the web! What a great link! I would never have upgraded until I saw this info. Thanks!! Now I need to search out a good digital workflow I can follow. I just got my D100 last week and I have Nikon capture, editor and view loaded, along with adobe elements...way too many steps and programs.

Any advice or a link to the corrrect forum for a good digital workflow?

Thanks again for the best site on the web!
