Procreate (aka Corel?) recently had a promo where they gave away _full_ versions of KPT Effects, KPT KnockOut and Painter 7 for Mac. I got all three and wow! Nice stuff. However, for photography the only one I find particularly useful is KnockOut and it really works well. Effects is a package of filters, the only one of which I can find a photographic use for is Channel Surfer. But I'm a bit puzzled by it. Here is the description:

"The KPT Channel Surfing filter splits an image into RGB and HLS color channels, and lets you apply an effect to one or all of the channels." (The effects include, blur, contrast, sharpen, and value shift. You also have control over opacity and a big set of blend modes.)

My question is this, can't you already do this in Photoshop? Can't you, for instance, select the blue channel after a scan and sharpen just the blue channel? Does this KPT filter just refine the process and give you more options? Otherwise I don't see the big deal.
