My parents have been using my old F70 for a little while now and are finding the interface too complex (they aren't technology-people) so I was thinking of putting an F65 under their tree this year. That way, I can "re-aquire" the F70 and use it as a backup body.

Other thoughts are a Canon CanoScan FS4000US and the Nikon AF 18-35mm for myself. Of course, I am a poor starving student, so if you see me on a local street corner in the next few weeks, please give generously!

Christmas morning will find me unwrapping a Nikkor 300mm f4 AF-S lens. after much deliberation & wavering between the lens & TC14e teleconverter, i asked Santa for the lens. my daughter will unwrap a 28-70 f3.5-4.5 Nikkor accompanied by a Nikon AF body from my F4's era which i have yet to decide. hubby gets to foot the bill. no, seriously, he already got a newer car. ( i drive an '84 toyota pick-up.) Merry Christmas everyone! judy, from wet & cold northwest

For me?

I just bought an Omega D5 enlarger, and will be replacing my first generation 80-200 f2.8 with a newer (tripod mount) version.

That's it for now because I just bought a house... Oh yeah, I'm getting a new kitchen and a darkroom.

Dear Santa,

I'd like to have a Nikon 16-800mm/2.8 zoom which is incredibly sharp, lightweight and I'd like to have it for free.
Can you take me along on your way back and drop me in Patagonia, please, please, please.

Thank you Santa,
Photophil

Cheers,

Dear Santa,
You really know everything that has happened to me, and I hope you will think I have been good enough for a new toy. I would like to try digital photography. I am old and old fashioned and have been using film forever, but am occasionally willing to try something with little risk - which a digital camera and whatever else is needed to make it work would be. Please send it with as many megapixies as you can, since I'll need their help. Maybe Joseph in his German toyshop can include his magic new batteries and charger.I promise to share it with my wife, even if I think she may not give it back to me. We will be away from home at Christmas, but if it is there when we return I'll know it came from you. Thanks and don't drink too much eggnog.

Dear Santa,

I really don't need any more equipment for my camera bag, but there is one thing you could provide me with. I have been desperately searching for it for a few years now and I can't seem to find it no matter how hard I try. Most other photographers have it, but I know for a fact that it took them many years to acquire it. JRP has it and so does BO. I'm getting older now, and I'm not sure how much more time I will have to acquire it. It won't cost you much and it won't take up much room in your bag. (or mine)..It's called PHOTOGRAPHIC SKILL. It would enable me to take much better photo's.

Thank You and Merry Christmas.

Oh by the way if you feel benevolent you can forget that first part of my first sentence and give me a Nikkor 600mm lens, and maybe a professional lighting system for portraits.

And one more thin ..sorry, see if you can do something for
Judy_T, and her 1984 Toyota pick-up. A new Ford Escape would be nice.

Do you still like cookies and milk, or would a liter of Jose Cuervo Gold be more appropriate?

Dear Santa
As Rick mentioned above, I want nothing material, just more skill ...and determination...and better marketing to get my name out there...and......and.....

Oh, OK, perhaps a Nikkor 28-105 - as I'm sure you must have seen the tumble my 28-80 took, so you see...I NEED one! er...and maybe the 80-200/2.8 AF-S.....Oooohhh, and another of Phil's goodies, mater o' fact, give me a plane ticket to Scotland the next time he goes! Fine, alright...you can pack another 600mm. lens in your bag along with Rick's. Oh, & give him a tissue for all o' that brown stuff on his nose

Really, I don't deserve the 17-35 AF-S or a D1x or a professional lighting system or an enlarger, BUT if you have room in your sack - they might be nice!

If none of this is possible though, I understand, I'll take the cash equivelant.}>

Dear Santa:
I know you cannot be fooled and will not confuse virtue with incapacity to do bad things, but I have behaved, resisting the temptation to return evil to evil.
As you well know, I've spent a bit this year on security systems, bodyguards and lawyers for my daughter and grandchildren, so not much is left for Nikon gear. Therefore, if it is in your clemency, health will suffice but a CoolScan IV ED would mean yuletide rejoice. Of course a 600mm AF-S II will make me continue to believe in you, as always.
P.S. Bless RickD for the nice things he said above about Bo and myself; bless all Nikonians -for being here- with the hunger to make the images they dream and the beautiful surprise that they indeed can make them.

Lefty,

I take exception to you asking Santa to bring me a tissue. It has taken me many years to hone my skills, and I feel that the least you could have asked for was a BOX of tissues. After all Christmas is more than a month away, I will need at least a BOX.... Sucking up isn't easy. Hmmmmm...Brown has always been my favorite color.

gee, rick, thank-you for your kind thoughts. Santa should be quite generous to you for Christmas. i do like my truck: cheap to run, only a new radiator & brakes in last 10 years, in addition to the usual replacement items. i do have my eye on a cobalt blue Honda CR-V i see dashing through town, though. the best of the holiday season to everyone. judy, from wet northwest

Dear Santa,

After trying a couple of AFS lenses, I promise that I'll continue to be good next year if you you be so kind as to leave a 17-35, 28-70, and 80-200 AFS zoom lenses under my tree. After all, they're not for me, they're for Joshua, the 18 month old.

Anthony

PS
I did receive the 24mm Nikkor you sent through B&H, and I know I promised it would be the last one. But, WOW, those AFS lenses!

Dear Santa,

Please grant me the eye to see beauty, the reflexes to react to my surroundings and the skill to capture it! Also, grant me the ability to teach others what I have learned while still remain a student of others.

If none of that floats your boat, I'll take an 80-400mm VR lens, a D1 (doesn't have to be a D1X but that is ok too!), an enlarger, a film scanner, a carbon fiber tripod, any AF-S lens (why limit myself?) and a never ending supply of film and paper! While I'm at it, a house big enough for a darkroom. Oh, and please continue to grant me an understanding fiancee/wife when it comes to my photography addiction.

WHERE/HOW THE HECK DID YOU GAIN ACCESS TO HIS NAUGHTY/NICE LIST??!
I've tried this for over 25 years, get so close...then - nothing!
I ask because on several occassions I swear I've been short-changed! I can't remember ONE single year where I would have been on his 'Naughty' side....well, maybe back in '84, but I swear that wasn't me

This xmas will be different. Instead of two different college tuition bills for two different kids, I will now get one bill, from the same college, for both kids. Saves me on the costs of writing checks. However, both of my kids in the same college is a frightening thought, but so far, no calls from the East Lansing MI police regarding riots in their rooms.

That's it for xmas at this house.

Dear Santa,
I've been giving this quite a bit of thought. I know you have quite a lot to deliver this season, and it must get quite heavy.

In order to help you save on weight of the packages, I'll take an F100 instead of the F5.

Emily, my two year old, would like a 17-35 for her stocking.
I swear that is what she told me!!

Happy Holidays to all

Oh Santa,

The 28-105, the 50 1.8 and the MB-16 will be great, but if you really loved us you'd bring a 80-400VR and a Coolscan 4000ED!

Dear Santa,
I am new to Nikonians and have a Nikon camera with a Tamron 28 to 200 lense . (Uh oh)
I am unfamiliar with many of these requested items, but I would be willing to save you all those separate trips. You could deliver all the requested items to me, I could try them all out, and then I could let everyone know if they would have had a Merry Christmas. I could send everyone "samples" from all these items. I mean, after all, I am being the thoughtful one,by thinking of you, so that must make me one of the nice ones.

Susan

This weekend, almost for sure, I'm going to buy Kenko Pro 300 2x teleconverter, and a (preferably Bogen/Manfrotto) monopod. My apt-mate is thinking about getting a Canon Powershot G2 and 420 EX so we can save a bit on shipping charges(I'm sorry guys, I failed to convince him to get CoolPix 5000).
I'm also thinking about getting a Nikon AF-S 300mm f4 (white version) while I'm travelling to Southeast Asia. Just want a different look.

With 2 kids in college, it would take a real Santa to pull this one off. The 80-400 VR would come in real handy!

Dear Santa,

I know better than to ask for what I deserve, but as I throw myself on your kind and understanding nature, let me humbly ask for one thing that I want: a flash, preferably one of those spiffy SB28DX models, but I would be grateful for even an SB50DX and would use it to share my joy with others.

Sincerely yours in all lighting situations,

Keith

Dear Santa,

I hope you get this letter before Christmas...

I just wanted to thank you for my wonderful Christmas gift last year. The N80, 80-200mm(2.8), 50mm(1.8), 24mm(2.8), SB28 and the Domke F2 Bag, and the early Xmas gift i received this summer, the F100...I have truely enjoyed them all.

I know I said that these items would be my christmas gift for the next 5 years, and I recall signing that agreement with my wife as a witness, but I do have one request.

PEACE on EARTH!....

and one small wish, that you may grant all the Nikonians their wishes... and one more, tell my wife that I may go on the next Nikonians Photo Adventure...

Thanks,
Bryan

Santa managed to place an order on my behalf for a Nikon CoolScan IV ED at B&H; but maybe he is having second thoughts, the order is still processing, since Dec 3!
The other possibility is that B&H is swamped ......

Since I got an AF-I 400mm f/2.8 this summer, I'll call that my Christmas present. (That was part of the deal to keep me out of divorce court anyway).

I recently spent my entire Christmas bonus on a user grade F4s. I've wanted one since they came out, due to it's matrix metering with ais lenses. It's all I hoped for, but now I have a problem. How to keep my F3t from feeling neglected?

According to a reliable source - an elf at B&H Photo - there may be a Bogen 3221 WN tripod, complete with leg warmers, carry strap, tripod bag and 3055 ballhead coming my way.

I'm looking for a looooong, sturdy stocking now... can anyone help?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-15-01 AT 09:58 PM (GMT)

Well Santa made an early arrival here in the ozarks and I now have my new 70-300mm ED D Nikkor. I recieved it Thursday, but we have been working long hours and it has been dark when I leave for work and dark when I return home. I have not had a chance to shoot any film with my new toy. My Grandson has his first wrestling tournament today so I will be there with new lens in hand and see how it works. I hope all my fellow Nikonians have there Christmas wishes come true.

I think we should send this thread to President Bush, just to let him know that the Nikonians are doing their part to boost the economy. Maybe we should ask him why credit card rates haven't dropped along with prime rates, that would really boost the retail sales for the holidays.

Later,
Rick D

Dear Santa:

First of all, please let Photophil and Laura and anybody wanting to come to Patagonia, their dreams come true: that way, I could join them...

Please send 21 air tickets -probably many more- to JRP: he'll distribute them to those wanting to attend the next Nikonians Photo Adventure here in Argentina...

And for the whole Nikonians community: Merry Christmas, a very happy New Year and an excellent 2002 !!!

P.S.: and for me, only a humble Bogen/Manfrotto tripod and (if our Super-Minister Cavallo allows you) a Markins ball head.
