"First Macro results"

NL

Hi,

thanks to the good advice I got here I decided to buy a Nikon 5T close-up attachment lens (to be used with my 70-300 ED). Below are some of my first results.

Shot on Fuji sensia 400 using my F80 + 70-300 + 5T.

Thanks to you I am now caught with the macro virus
I hope my skills will improve...

Patrick

Thanks Paul

I must admit however that the idea of the second picture is not mine. I saw a similar picture while browsing the web, might even have seen it here at nikonians.org

Hi Patrick,

Nice pictures, especially # 2.

I just recently purchased a 5T close-up lens for my 70-300 ED. I haven't had a chance to get out there and us it, but you have inspired me to get with. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.

Take more and share them with us.

Have a great day!

...on both shots. Better depth-of-field control on the second one. You will find that backing up the lens and/or stopping way down will improve DOF. A tripod is of course essential. Use overcast lighting to your advantage, carry some "portable overcast" in the form of a 22" diffuser (those 5-in-1 reversible, folding discs are great), or use shade in a pinch. If you haven't discovered it already, wind (even the slightest puff) is the bane of outdoor macro photography. I am documenting my garden, which is loaded with great macro shots, and the wind drives me crazy!

Here's a little something from the garden shot with an Olympus C3040Z, -0.3EV, f/10 aperture priority, macro focusing mode, ISO 100. Have to go back here with the 70-300ED/5T for some shots with E100VS (like it needs more saturation, haha!)

The toy digital cameras are great for scouting shots and exposure conditions.

Cheers.
