"Extension tubes, AF-S, compatibailty and so on"

Austin, US

I'm new to Nikonians, so forgive if this has been covered.

It seems really difficult to determine the compatibility of the various Nikon "PK" tubes with Nikon lenses. I'm concerned that using, for example, a PK-12 alone with a 50mm 1.4D will cause damage. Should one always use the PK-11A first? And, if "yes" I assume that the PK-11A should be mounted closest to the camera body?

If someone can guide me to the "official Nikon word" posting, I would appreciate it.

The user's manual of the lens always states if there's an incompatibility with one or another extension ring or other accessories. It also depends on what camera you have.

When you use several extension rings, the order doesn't matter, exept when one of the rings is incompatible with either the lens or the camera.

Hope this helps.

Philip
