"White Marked Tussock Moth Caterpillar"

HIXSON, US

I'm pretty sure that I suck at macro, but I was encouraged to submit these in this group. I'm an old guy that likes to shoot bugs, but I had never seen one like this before. It was on my trash can. I kept flipping it onto a sheet of white paper which it didn't like too well.

They were shot in pretty heavy shade, hence the high ISO. The 1st two were shot with my birding kit, D7100 w/300/f4 + TC-14E II. Then I switched to my D7000 w/an antique Macro lens (Nikon AF NIKKOR 28-105mm 3.5-4.5D). Neither of these lenses have VR. A tripod was out of the question with this critter constantly squirming around trying to find a way into the trash can.

I only included #2 because it showed the smaller legs/feet up front as contrasted with the 5 larger ones on each side.
