"Some butterflies"

Richmond, US

I took advantage of the end of the season... shooting these with flash is a lot easier than without.

All shot with D3, 200/f4 AFD Micro-Nikkor, 1/500th, hand held with Sigma EM-140 ring flash in iTTL mode. Most apertures f/16 but a few f/11's and f/22's.

Great shots. I really like 3, he seems to have taken notice of you. I was avoiding flash when I went after butterflies as it seemed to spook them, but after this I will try again, when they return...

Nice series...I like #1 though it should have been sharper. I reckon your focus has been on the flower...I like the flower and the role it played with your butterfly.
