"Butterfly On a Butterfly Bush"

I took this photo with my D200 and Nikon 105D macro lens. I scare the butterfly when I try to use Nikon 60 G macro lens. The extra magnification was very helpfull.

I only see the butterflies flying around the butterfly bush in the afternoon. I was out in the morning at 8am or 9 am and they were not around. It was over cast this morning. Any idea why they behave this way?

This afternoon the sun was incrediable strong and harsh. I could not stay outside two long with out getting burnt to a crisp.

Let me know how you like the image. It is challenging to capture a good image of a butterfly. They move very quickly.

It takes them awhile to warm up after a cool night, and they are more active in the sun; tend to stay quiet when it's cloudy.

Good photo with a nice background! It looks like a "Painted Lady" butterfly albeit a little tattered.

Thanks.

They were hiding somewhere this morning. They were not on the Butterfly bush.
