"Butterflies & Wind"

New Haven, US

I'm not much into closeups but I tried out my new D7000 today. It was really windy.I shot at iso640 f9 1/500 200mm using a monopod. This is a fair sised crop from the original.I was pleased with this one,the other 100 or so not so much.I don't know whats going on in the lower right corner.

The butterfly is nice. I'm also trying to coming to terms with the D7000 and its ways. One in a hundred sounds about right to me!

Howard,
Macro or Close-up photography and strong winds don't go well together. Freezing motion isn't necessarily a problem, but keeping the subject in focus is next to impossible. Using a reflector to help block the wind can help some. Also you can try shooting a burst of shots with the hope that one might be in focus.

Nice job on this one. Windy days and macro don't mix well. Yuo can try listening for the sound of the wind and waiting until it is at a minimum. AF-C can help too.
