Thank you Kathy!
I spent several hours over two mornings at the third location. Would have gone back the next day but had to move on.

I've enjoyed your Glacier N.P. pictures over the last few days. I've been to Glacier 7 or 8 separate times (not bad for someone living in Michigan all his life). Every time I go there I'm overwhelmed by the grandeur of the park. So overwhelmed that I often forget to look at some of the smaller scenes. You've done a great job of showing some of the details instead of showing only the large area mountain scenes. You've inspired me try some new viewpoints during my next visit.

Thank you Gary. I sincerely appreciate your comments.
This was my first, but definitely not my last time. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Although it was crowded, we were able to ditch the crowds and get to areas where I could do the intimate landscapes that I prefer.

Enjoy your next visit!

I find the best way to avoid the crowds is to get on the trails. My favorite activity in Glacier is taking day hikes. Typically I will pick hikes that will take me about 5 miles off the road. My favorite area is Many Glacier on the east side. You can do a lot of hiking from the campground or the adjacent Swiftcurrent Inn.

Very nice shots Peter!

I'll be making my first trip to Glacier the latter part of this week. It will be the first leg of a whirlwind trip to four national parks in 14 days. Your photos have inspired me. I only have three days there and my wife is accompanying me, which will preclude me from spending much time hiking into the interior. I hope the sites along the Going to the Sun Road will present some good photographic opportunities.

Again, great job.

George

Thank you so much George.
You really can't go wrong. I expect that after this weekend the crowds will be down significantly so you won't have to fight for space. There are several spots just north of Lake McDonald Lodge where we were able to have access to the river with a short walk. Also, the Avalanche Creek Trail is a must for beautiful rushing water.
I hope you and your wife have a wonderful time.

Thanks Peter, I'll check those spots out. The crowd issue, along with the autumn rut and colors, are the main reasons I tend to visit the national parks in September. We've never had problems in Yellowstone, Grand Teton or the parks further south in Utah and Arizona in September and hope this will be the case for Glacier as well. I have friends who were in Glacier in early August and informed me that finding parking along the Going To The Sun Road was very difficult. I'm hoping that Glacier will be much less crowded later this week.

I love number 3 - the angles of the rocks are wonderful and contrast so well with the soft water. Great viewpoint!
