3 images from the other evening....where I found that tripods sink in the sand on long exposures.....

Shame I left the three frisbees at the house!!!

All taken with D300s and 17-55 f2.8 lens.

Regards

Mike

Mike:

Very well done. Strong foreground elements lead the eye toward the sun/horizon. I like the first image a tad more than the others and wonder how it would look with the sand patterns in the very front post-processed a bit to increase contrast. I think that might tie together the foreground and setting sun. Similarly, in the third image, I wonder if there is any detail you could wring out of the reflection pool on the left? You might try bringing up the shadows just a bit, but only a bit.

These are good as they are, so please take my comments as mere suggestions for potential improvement.

Thanks for the comments Les.

Regarding the shadows, I have several versions of thse, some with darker stronger shadow areas....its always difficult to know which is best, sometimes I prefer more, sometimes less....

I totally understand and in the end all that matters is how YOU like it! One of the many things I love about the art of photography.

You gotta love the way some images---#1 is my fav too--just make you say WOW. These must be very tricky exposures to do PP on, an art I'm just starting to get into with Aperture3. The outcome as to what you choose as the final settings to go with is so subjective, but it's magic that each exposure contains within it so many different, often radically, but also subtly, so, ways of looking at the same image.

If you don't go you won't get anything

You did pretty well without the Frisbees, Mike. Very nice work. I'm partial to the first one as well.
