"June Contest: Floral Landscapes"

US

This months theme is Floral Landscapes. It is that time of the year, at least in the northern hemisphere, where flowers are in bloom. When they are part of a landscape they can add a nice touch of color or simply create a more pleasant photograph. For this one a flower or flowers must be included in the composition AND be prominent enough such that the viewer identifies the picture as a floral landscape. In other words, the theme itself stands out. This type of theme often works well with wide angle lenses when flowers are in the foreground and the camera is close to exaggerate the perspective. Of course that is just one example of a floral landscape. Please note that this theme is not to be confused with a flower closeup capture, a landscape must be present, not simply flowers.

RULES:
--Post up to 7 images but ONLY ONE PICTURE/post
--Include a title in the subject line
--Include shooting info so we can learn from each other
--Previously posted images are welcome but ot previous winners
--When posting please do so by hitting the reply link below this top post, not the reply link to another post.
--NO excessively post processed images unless that is the theme
--No people in the composition such that the people become or compete for the main subject
--Capture must be shot with a Nikon camera and any lens
--Comments are welcome but NO public critiquing, i.e., how to make it better. This is a contest so PM's are a better way to offer feedback
--Posts that do not meet the spirit of the challenge will not be selected as finalists - and may or may not be randomly removed during the month without notice. To be considered as a finalist the post must be a Landscape - see criteria here, AND also meet the monthly theme such that the theme is a standout feature - what one thinks about when looking at the picture. Image enhancement in the digital darkroom is acceptable as long as the final result looks mostly like a photo - the exception is when the theme specifically allows for digital art.

Six images will be selected by the previous months winner and be included in a poll for members to vote for the winning photo. The winning image will be added to the Landscape Winners Gallery

Good Luck

This part of Ontario had a very late, cool and wet spring so floral landscapes are currently non-existent. However - it is also an agricultural area and what can be prettier then an early field of Canola (at least I hope that's what it is).

Taken June 6 2013 (this morning, in other words!) - late spring, wet spring, cold spring!

D700, 28-70/2.8, ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/160. WB was tricky, I warmed the foreground up while using a grad filter in LR to keep the background from becoming too caricatural - or I hope so!

This is one of the many lakes in the Argentinian side of Patagonia. The ripples in the trees are not blur, but are caused by the constant strong winds.

Nice...this reminds me of my father-in-law (he passed away...) Anyway, he saw a poppy in his backyard and thought it was beautiful, then I told him that poppies are used to make opium. He nearly fell off the seat of his pants. I didn't know that it had worried him so much that before we left for Melbourne (he lived in Ballarat) he specifically told us not to tell anyone he has "a" poppy in his garden. :00000

Thank you Izzie. I was wondering myself what they do with these poppies (as these are huge open fields I doubt that they make opium out of it but they sure could) , I think it is used for pharmaceutical products.

Rhododendron ferrugineum in the Alpes Maritimes, France. The mountain azalea flowers early im May before most walkers come to the mountains because access to higher altitudes is still blocked by soft snow. They only see faded flowers and think it boring! These plants are old and putting on little new growth.
