"May Contest - Converging Lines"
Sat 04-May-13 04:10 PM by Valentino

US

This months theme is Converging Lines. Often captured with wider vs longer lenses, converging lines can give a sense ‘here to infinity’ which lends a dynamic feel for the landscape. Examples of this includes things like fences, roads, rows crops or headstones....

Note: Remember, leading lines are not necessarily the same as 'converging lines' Both pull the eye in but this contest is about convergence!

RULES:
--Post up to 7 images but ONLY ONE PICTURE/post
--Include a title in the subject line
--Include shooting info so we can learn from each other
--Previously posted images are welcome but ot previous winners
--When posting please do so by hitting the ‘reply’ link below this top post, not the reply link to another post.
--NO excessively post processed images unless that is the theme
--No people in the composition such that the people become or compete for the main subject
--Capture must be shot with a Nikon camera and any lens
--Comments are welcome but NO public critiquing, i.e., how to make it better. This is a contest so PM's are a better way to offer feedback
--Posts that do not meet the spirit of the challenge will not be selected as finalists - and may or may not be randomly removed during the month without notice. To be considered as a finalist the post must be a Landscape - see criteria here, AND also meet the monthly theme such that the theme is a standout feature - what one thinks about when looking at the picture. Image enhancement in the digital darkroom is acceptable as long as the final result looks mostly like a photo - the exception is when the theme specifically allows for digital art.

Six images will be selected by the previous months winner and be included in a poll for members to vote for the winning photo. The winning image will be added to the Landscape Winners Gallery

Good Luck

This shot possibly may NOT considered a landscape according to the "rules".

However, the focus is not on the individuals, rather how they disperse into the distance, giving dimension. The girl walked into the shot while the D800 was in MUP mode.

Bob submitted an image of the Astoria Bridge captured at sunset; I've opted for a submission captured later in the day.

The combination of a near-four minute exposure, with the lights from a river-front hotel directly behind me, led to a unique illumination of this scene.
