I made a last minute decision to run down to Monument Valley for the weekend. The weather didn't cooperate for the whole trip but I came away with a few images I like. This was Sunday sunrise, just down from the visitor's center.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It's hard to not come away with a pretty image here.
Rob, it's funny that you mentioned Easy Rider because when I checked in at the hotel there (The View) they handed me a sheet of paper with a very long list of all the movies that have had scenes shot there. Easy Rider is right there on top, in addition to all the John Wayne movies of course. It would be fun to have a movie marathon of all the films with Monument Valley in them. Go visit!

You'll have ample opportunities for great shots. The weather is starting to be predictably good, and who knows, you might get a spring storm to add interest.
I recommend using a guide. You can drive your own vehicle on the 17 mile loop to do photos but a guide will use their own, which is kind of nice. The roads is quite rough and if you care to venture off the loop into the backcountry, you have to have a Navajo with you. Plus there are other places a guide can take you, like Mystery Valley, where you couldn't go otherwise.

A little to far for a weekend jaunt from NH. Really great shot. We will be flying into Vegas in Sept. and see as many NP and other sights as 4 weeks will allow. Do not have a full frame. D90, 18-200 and a 50MM with one more wide angle to buy before the trip.
