To all who come across this image: do yourself a favour, and click on it for the bigger gallery version!

To the OP: well done! I like it - where exactly in the Allgäu did you take it?

Cheerio,

Hi Olivier,

thank you very much for the suggestion to watch this picture in full size.
To be honest I forgot where it was taken. This waterfall was none of the famous falls in the Allgäu alps.

Egbert

I am missing something here. Why is this regarded as very good? The small version to me is OK. In the larger version however, nothing is sharp and I find it distracting. Obviously the author and some of the top Nikonians also like it. Please forgive me, this is not negative criticism, I would really like to know why the picture appeals to you (author included).

Hi Aart,

on this picture is everything sharp except the water ( but this is intentionally not sharp). When I took it I liked the light on this scene and still do like it very much. This is my personal opinion.

No one is forced to share this opinion or to like the pictures I like even if they are taken by me.

Hello Egbert,
Thank you for your reply. It was obvious that very knowledgeable persons like the picture. I had a real desire to know why other people like it and me not.

Ninety nine percent of the reason was a very slow internet.

For some reason the internet connection slowed to a crawl so when I thought the the enlarged download were finished, I was not at all impressed with the sharpness of the rest of the picture. This will explain my comments on the smaller version.

I did, too late, saw and appreciate the qualities of the picture later.

Thank you for explaining to me what should have been obvious.

I now understand the technical appeal of the picture.
