""Supermoon" on May 5"

McEwen, US

Apparently on the night of May 5, the moon will appear exceptionally large in the sky. So a good time for photos if you want to plan a good spot.

I think we are supposed to have cloud cover, but maybe it won't materialize.

There are a large number of people planning to shoot moonbows in Yosemite this weekend because of that moon.

One of my first "moon" shot attempts. I was not too happy with the softness of the 200-400mm with the TC14, so this is just with the lens. Wished it was sharper. Any ideas on how to improve the quality of the shot?

Usually it is best to shoot around f8-f11 and also at a shutter around 1/100-1/125 S. Since you shoot D700, high ISO is not a problem. What was your camera settings?

Exit file should be attached: ISO: 800, f/7.1, 1/500s. Will try again tonight with different settings. Thx for the input. Next to buy the kit to attach the D700 to my old Celestron C8.
