"Hot air balloons"

Carmel, US

I am going to try my hand at using slides at a hot air balloon feast. I will be taking pictures from 6:00 in the morning. Any suggestions? I also want to make enlargements 8x10 or 11x14 so I need to watch out for the grain. Any suggestions would be appreciated. PS - I will be using an N80 (hopefully). Thanks - Anita

Bring everything is the easy answer.

I have shot the Albuquerque fiesta a few times. I use wide angles to moderate telephoto (16 to 85mm) while things are on the ground. And then the big glass when balloons are flying (80 to 800mm). Actually that is not totally true, I remember getting some awesome isolation shots of ground based balloons with the 400. So it really depends on what you are wanting that day at that moment.

As far as film, I used everything from Velvia to E200 pushed 2 stops for shots in the black of the morning.

I am not sure this helps...

How do you find about the Hot Air balloon events? I am also
interested in photographing them in slides as they are very colorful.
Any websites giving the places and dates ? thanks

I don't know if there are any websites, I just happened to see a local flyer from the next County. They do this every year in Dutchess County, NY.
