"Right time WRONG place AGAIN!! Curse the Herons!!"

Just thought I would come and share my frustrating experience with you all, its a bit long winded even though it doesn't prob doesn't need to be but hey - I'm frustrated dammit! lol

Since getting my new lens I have been taking it everywhere with me, but mainly up and down the river to try and get a decent picture of the Herons.

Today I went knowing the lock was up so the river would be high. Its around this time the Heron fly down the river between two islands so I thought I might be able get an in-flight shot.

I walked down to the second bridge, where about 10 yards after the bridge you loose the river on the side I was on. However, I always see a Heron just behind the bridge but there were some men on a boat so I thought 'nah I will cross over today'...

I crossed the bridge (big one that has 4 lanes of traffic going over) to the other side and walked along about 15 foot when suddenly, there he was...a Heron flying around in the middle of the river. I pulled the camera out just as the Heron flew in to some bush ahead of me. 'At last, my time has come' I thought. Suddenly there was loads of noise from the bush and Heron flew, at speed, out from the bush and across the river (with something black in its mouth)- being chased by two smaller birds. They laned on the other side of the river and procceded to have a bit of a fight! This all happened where I had originally thought of going to stand!! AAAARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
