Seriously though, we had some excellent light today - and this may be my most satisfying snowy owl shot to date. D7100 w/ 300 f2.8 VR, 1/3200 f5 ISO 200.

Since I have never seen one, I am surprised by the wingspan. I like seeing the branch in the photo showing the takeoff in progress.

In reality, it's a rather scruffy little tree. But the owl likes it.

Very nice Jim. Great detail and it's nice to see a blue sky in the background.

so I guess we are going to see beautiful shot from Kip with the eyes looking directly at him

Kip went to van to get his gloves as I recall. The second he turned his back she was off like a shot!

Nice photo Jim , they both work for me .Love the details and the patterns in these owls. Blue sky helps them really pop.

#1 is great. Very good detail and the wing spreading from upper right to almost bottom left is amazing. Very nice image.

As you may recall Kip, I really didn't realize at first that I got that shot. And if I hadn't moved back to talk to you no way I would have avoided clipping her wings on this one.

Jim, I would have to say that the 1st image is probably the best of all the great images you guys have posted of this bird.
