Here are a couple of little winter visitors - similar in size to warblers and just about as active. Great tune-up for the spring migration a few months away and "real world" test of the new version 80-400 G as a bonafide birding lens.
For this effort I used the 80-400 without the 1.4 TC and was blown away with the sharpness this lens exhibits. Both images were again shot at ISO 1600 (still basically no light-overcast) and this time were handheld with the VR on.

Al: have to admire these tough little critters who make it through our winters. The photos are excellent renditions of them and are sharp and well exposed. The lens is an absolute winner, speaking from personal experience as well as seeing your results. Nice to see bit of variety from the raptors. Richard
