"elephants in Tanzania, Africa"

El Segundo (Los Angeles), US

Hi all.

In case you thought I ignored the elephants here are a few shots:

Camera: NIKON D700/70-200 f/2.8
Focal length: 82 mm (equiv. 82 mm)
Aperture: F5
Exposure time: 1/1000"
ISO speed rating: 200/24°
Program: Aperture priority
Metering Mode: Pattern
White Balance: Auto

This is not a real fight, these are brother and sister and a few moments later he tried to mount her but she wasn't interested. By the way that is not his leg.

Camera: NIKON D700/70-200 f/2.8
Focal length: 155 mm (equiv. 155 mm)
Aperture: F5.6
Exposure time: 1/200" (+0.67 EV)
ISO speed rating: 200/24°
Program: Manual
Metering Mode: Pattern
White Balance: Auto

Giving himself a dust bath. The smaller elephant is scratching his rear on the tree. They had both just come out of the river.

Camera: NIKON D3S/200-400 + 1.4tc
Focal length: 550 mm (equiv. 550 mm)
Aperture: F5.6
Exposure time: 1/640" (-0.33 EV)
ISO speed rating: 400/27°
Program: Manual
Metering Mode: Pattern
White Balance: Auto

This cute little fellow knows his place in the line of march.

As always, any comments, criticism or advice very welcome.

Very nice Jim. And thanks for that uncensored look at an adolescent elephant's fifth leg/second trunk! Now I'll always wonder if those other elephant shots have been photoshopped to save civilization.
