"A Carolina Wren on my Deck Rail"

HIXSON, US

I feed squirrels by hand on my deck. I stick my hand through a small opening in my sliding glass door & take peanuts from my fingers. On several occasions when I am doing this, I get a Carolina Wren checking out the empty peanut shells on my deck railing.

All these shots are with my D7100 w/ 300/f4D & TC14E II.

Thanks Bill!

Well, my deck has tons of spiders underneath, so that should keep "her" busy during the summer. Have to get "her" some mealworms if she is still around this winter. The wrens also spend a good bit of time pecking around in my yard.

Well captured, any cropping done? She seems to be hurt on the left leg.

TFS,

Thanks. # 2 was cropped from 6000x4000 down to 1906x1429. At 1st, it looked like the left leg or foot was hurt. But then she put weight on both free to launch herself into the air, so I'm not sure.

My goodness, Charlie, I apologize for not drawing the connection! It is nice to be in a PSA study group with a fellow Nikonians. I had to chuckle when I saw you mention Group 52, I was thinking about Area 51 which has been in the news recently and I thought, "now where is Group 52?" Then the light dawned! Glad to you see you here, too.

John, I thought I gave you a Nikonian's shout out on Group 52. I used to spend a great deal of time in a town that is due East of Milwaukee. Oops, no that would be Grand Haven. Spent some time there as well, but mainly in Holland, MI. When I got to fly in the corporate jet, we always flew over Milwaukee for some reason.

Later,

Charlie
